We received a lot of entries for the Give a Gift contest, and we wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone that submitted their nominations! All the entries were so heart felt, and there were some that even made us cry! We wish we could give all those individuals a free session, but as you know there can only be one winner.
The contest was to nominate an individual/family who you thought deserved a portrait session. We had such a hard time picking the winner because all of them truly deserved it, but the one that stood out from the rest was Erica’s nomination.
Erica nominated Brian and Jen, and this is what she wrote:
“I saw your post of giving a session away to someone that would deserve it… and I have a family that was weighing heavy on my heart. Our close friends, Brian and Jen, have four beautiful children and have not had a family portrait done recently. Brian is a youth pastor at our church in Peoria. The reason that I’m nominating them is because their little 3 year old daughter, Natalie, was diagnosed last week with a malignant brain tumor. I know they will begin treatment of the cancer soon… so it would be super cool to get a session of the family before Natalie begins treatment.”
From reading Brian and Jen’s blog, the tumor was diagnosed on March 16th of this year. Their daughter Natalie has experienced 14 months of seizure related symptoms and multiple EEG’s, MRI’s, frequent lab work and ultimately a spinal tap and brain biopsy. Please keep their family in your prayers!
